Home inspection began as consumer service in the 1970’s. To meet and regulate this need the Canadian Association of Home Inspectors (CAHI) was formed in 1982 as the Canadian arm of the American Association of Home Inspectors (ASHI). In 1994, several provincial/regional organizations formed CAHI National, and in September 2002 the name was changed to the Canadian Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI).
The current Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics are adopted by seven Provincial/Regional organizations across Canada with hundreds of individual members nationwide.”
